I went along to a Consciously Female taster session run by Dawn Breslin and her team to find out.
Late as usual I met my friend at the steps of The Bonham Hotel and nervously we entered the rather posh foyer. The reception area was full of women all chatting away and the buzz of anticipation was infectious. After a few minutes we were ushered through to a room off reception, all high ceilings and grandeur with candles flickering on the fireplace and a beautiful mirror reflecting the glow.
The event was fully booked and as I scanned the room I guessed there were about forty women all gathered to find out what it means to be Consciously Female. I was surprised to see such a wide age range of women, some glamorous and some more au naturale like me. Being a tad chubby, I tend to choose clothes that hide my tummy and other wobbly bits so I felt anything but glamorous. If I had walked into a room full of women wearing Chanel suits or something I'd have instantly backed out.
As soon as Dawn took the floor, we were all captivated by this free-spirited, radiant women addressing us and sharing part of her own life story. She had started all those years ago from a dark place, a time when she was a new mother and struggling with post-natal depression. She herself said she had lost all sense of who she was and felt she had lost her identity and creativity when she gave birth to her daughter. It was a two-day workshop run by Louise Hay that changed her life.
Amazed at the change brought about by simply changing her thinking, Dawn has made a career from learning as much as she can about self-development and now uses her knowledge and experience to help other women. She is an inspiring and sincere speaker and she offers a unique life-coaching programme covering everything from style makeovers and pamper sessions to aligning your thoughts and reawakening your creativity.
