Like most of you I started off 2011 with a list of New Year Resolutions...
At the end of the first month I'm on track with some biggies, like losing weight and exercising more. This is the toughest one for me to stick to. I'm proud to announce that I'm half-way to my target weight.
I've also revived my social life and I'm spending more time with my friends. Recently, just contemplating the idea of moving away made me realise how happy I am here. I have an amazing and supportive group of friends and I absolutely LOVE living in Edinburgh.
The main theme for me this year is trying new things. So, about a week ago in the spirit of adventure, I boldly entered the world of online dating!!
I know a few happily married couples who met online but I've also heard some horror stories. The most regular offence seems to be people putting an old picture online and when you meet them they are about 10 years older than they said they were. I've had pretty awful dates in the past, one that sticks out is a guy who turned up with a whole bundle of clothes stuffed in a Lidl bag!?!
Worst case scenarios were running through my mind as I went to meet my first date. His profile photos were lovely and he came across as smart and funny in his emails, but I was braced for disappointment. When I stepped into the cosy wee coffee shop, it was empty except for two patrons, both women. My heart sank. Had he stood me up?
Before I had even taken my coat off, he phoned apologising profusely and appeared five minutes later. When he arrived I had to stop myself staring as he was even better looking than his photo. From that rather embarrassing start we had a great date. He won me over with his sincerity and charm and we emerged from the coffee shop three hours later still laughing and chatting........we have our second date next week
